The port in Turkmenbashi was established in 1896. In 2018, after the completion of the construction project, the new Turkmenbashi International Seaport is going to be the largest seaport in the Caspian region as well as in the Central Asian region. Covering the total area of more than 105 hectares, the port will consist of 5 terminals: container terminal, bulk cargo terminal, general cargo terminal, passenger and Ro-Ro/Ro-Pax terminal and polypropylene terminal, with the following capacities:
– 400.000 TEU per year;
– 3.000.000 tons of bulk cargo per year;
– 4.000.000 tons of general cargo per year;
– 300.000 passengers and about 75.000 trucks per year;
– 120.000 tons of polypropylene per year.
