Cost is ever important, and a useful way to reduce costs is to outsource work to remote teams – be they sub-contractors or a sub-office of your own organisation. This presents challenges and difficulties for project managers. Here, Project Manager Mandar Apte discusses the challenges, risks and opportunities of working with remote teams.

Mandar Apte is a chemical engineer by education and a certified PMP practitioner. He began his career as a piping engineer, worked as Deputy Division Manager, piping and pipelines, and then moved to project management. He has worked on major onshore and offshore, brownfield and greenfield, oil and gas upstream and downstream projects, including feasibility studies, conceptual engineering, FEED and EPC projects.
