Abdulkareem Al Masabi is responsible for all of Abu Dhabi Ports’ day-to-day operational activities. Prior to this role, Al Masabi was the Vice President at Khalifa Port. He joined Abu Dhabi Ports as Senior Operations Manager in 2009 with over 11 years’ experience in the shipping and ports industry. Before joining Abu Dhabi Ports, he was marine operations manager with the National Gas Shipping Company, an ADNOC Group company. Before that, he was a senior marine superintendent with Gulf Energy Maritime. For the eight years before that, he was with NGSCO, where he rose through the ranks on board the company’s LNG/oil tankers, from third officer to master/chief officer.

Abu Dhabi Ports is a government-owned organization established in 2006. The organization facilitates the diversification of Abu Dhabi’s economy and is a pillar of the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030. Abu Dhabi Ports manages nine commercial, logistics, community and leisure ports, including the flagship Khalifa Port and adjacent industrial zone Kizad. Khalifa Port is the first semi-automated container port in the GCC region and handles all of Abu Dhabi’s container traffic, general cargo and roll-on/roll-off cargo. In its current phase one, Khalifa Port can handle an annual capacity of 2.5 million TEU and 12 million tonnes of general cargo. When complete, Khalifa Port is expected to handle 15 million TEUs and 35 million tonnes of general cargo per year.
